Grab a pencil and a piece of paper… Time for a pop quiz, homeschooling style. At dinner this evening, I remembered something that the crew would be interested in. As we discussed it, it became a homeschooler’s pop quiz.
Travelling this past week, I saw a great question for final jeopardy or for those who studied MFW – Exploring Countries and Cultures. Now while you internet addicts could probably Google and get the answer, let’s give the following question an honest try before you start cheating:
Believe it or not, Ireland is the world’s 20th largest island. Name the other 19. Continents are not considered islands.
No peeking… come on, give it a try… it kept me busy on a plane for a while.

The crew was able to get the following:
Greenland,
Iceland
Japan
Cuba
Madagascar
United Kingdom
North Island, New Zealand
South Island, New Zealand
Indonesia (however there are actually 4 of these all on list….)
New Guinea
Phillipines (however there are actually 2 of these on the list)
You’re supposed to name individual islands, but we gave them some partial credit for Indonesia and Phililpines
By the way, the kids came up with more than Michelle or me.

Dave and I didn’t fair so well on this assignment. We laid in bed rattling off islands. I actually forgot the question exactly so we just started naming islands. We looked again at the question tonight, but Dave’s brain was fried from court so we went with what we had and we named a total of 6. Naming New Zealand only once. That was fun..thanks. Have you ever tried naming the states in order and then each states capital. We often do this when traveling, then find plates
