I’d like to introduce you to the wonderful family who God has blessed me with. For the sake of privacy, we choose to use nicknames here on our family blog. We all had a great time coming up with nicknames that express each person’s unique personality or stage of life.

I gave my husband the nickname “Iron Man” in reference to Proverbs 27:17 – “Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.” In the culture today, we don’t often see men of “iron” who have the discernment and strength to sharpen another in their faith. I am blessed to be married to a guy who is “sharp,” but also gentle and loving enough to help me and others become sharpened as well. My kind, funny and friendly husband is a natural leader who is wise and patient, both in the workplace and in the home. He is a man after God’s own heart. He loves the Lord, seeks His will in all his decisions, and takes seriously his responsibility to raise up our children to know the Lord too. God has blessed me with a husband who is easy to follow and trust.
As for me, I am the blessed wife of my handsome hubby, and the blessed mommy to all these wonderful kids. I have the honor of caring for our home and family full time, and the privilege of homeschooling these awesome kids. I enjoy getting together with our Small Group, photography, blogging, writing, reading, and just spending time with my family in my blessed home.
Polly
One of our family’s favorite books is The Five Little Peppers and How They Grew. Originally written in 1881, the book is about five children with the last name Pepper. The oldest Pepper girl is Polly: a kind, cheerful, hard-working girl who dearly loves her siblings. As our family read the book, we all agreed that our girl is much like Polly. She is tender-hearted, respectful, responsible and loving. Her younger brothers and sisters adore her. She adores them too, and wishes that I would have at least a dozen more babies that she can be a big sister to. She is a very gifted creative writer and pianist, and she loves to read, play with her siblings, and hold her baby brother.
Game Boy
Game Boy came up with this nickname himself, and I must say it suits him well. This boy is all bouncing, kind-hearted and fun. Indeed, he loves games: sports, board games, video games, chess… he enjoys them all. He is also very sharp and has quite an analytical mind. He is able to build the most incredible things out of Knex. He can look at the picture in the book and know exactly what to do, while I could spend two hours staring at the instructions trying to figure out what they mean. He loves to read, and in particular loves reading the Bible. Other favorite books are biographies and anything written by Ed Dunlop.
Bubbles
Iron Man has been calling her Bubbles for years, and it describes her perfectly. This little girl is all sweetness and bounciness. She rarely has an unpleasant word to say. She is bright, cheerful, and is very much a peacemaker. In school she reads and writes beautifully, and is picking up piano skills very quickly. She loves babies and at the age of five, made a list of the fifty names for the children she hopes to have some day. She enjoys playing with dolls, and she wants to be a mommy, artist and ballerina when she grows up.
Fred
Fred was formerly known as “Happy,” and honestly I feel that Happy was a name better-suited for him. This guy is full of smiles and has the best temperament. He brightens up a room for both old and young, has a lot to say and enjoys life. He always is carrying a tune and can get a crowd to join in with him. He makes a friend wherever he goes.
When he decided he wanted to change his blog name, Iron Man and I were strongly encouraging him to go with “Mr. Mayor” or “Dash” (from “The Incredibles.”) He decidedly stated that he wants his blogname to be Fred. Why? In his words, ”because my favorite movie is Scooby Doo, and Fred is my favorite character. And my hair is yellow like his.” Can’t argue with that!
Princess
Princess wears dancing shoes and a princess dress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Yes, that includes time sleeping and possibly in the shower… don’t ask. Anyhow, she loves the princess stage and we encourage that. Anything else from a four year old would be too much to ask!
In addition to Princesses, she loves Polly Pockets, drawing pictures, and being read to. She melts our hearts when she sings, dances, and gives hugs, and she has the cutest voice that we’ve ever heard.
George
This little guy is full of smiles and hugs. He loves his family, climbing, playing with trains, and exploring the world around him in search of things he shouldn’t get into. Toilets, for example. In addition to filling our lives with excitement and keeping us on our toes, he also loves stories. Although he doesn’t know her name yet, Margaret Wise Brown is his favorite author. He will sit through Good Night Moon and My World as many consecutive times as someone is willing to read to him.
Why “George?” In the words of H.A. Rey, “George was a good little monkey, but always curious.” Need I say more?
Burrito
No explanation necessary for this dear baby’s nickname. The picture says it all.
Burrito is a dream of a 7th child. He’s sweet, peaceful, and mild-mannered. He rarely cries, even when hungry. When he wants to nurse, he smacks his lips and breathes a little harder to let us know. He loves being bundled up warmly and snuggling with any of his obliging parents or siblings, and he loves his binky (pacifier). He has the entire family wrapped around his tiny little fingers.

Loved “meeting” your family. We also have a Polly, Smiley, Princess, she just turned 4 and George (along with a few others). Great blog names!
I’ve been thinking about going anonymous on our blog, any thoughts, pros or cons?
Blessings,
