#7’s Here!!!

Wanted to get some pics up of the latest model   #7 was born Monday October 26, 2009 @ 2:20 weighing in at 8lbs 10oz.  He was 20.5 inches long.

Both Mom and #7 are doing well and should be home with the family tomorrow. At this point, we don’t have a suitable nickname, so let’s use code name Angus.

Five things I love about Fred

1. Gotta be the hair!
2. Excitement, excitement. Fred brings fun no matter the situation. He adds energy to a room.
3. Love the way he leaves a table at a restaurant to visit the Restroom: Under the table so as not to inconvenience anyone…
4. Love his gentlemanly ways when dealing with both his princesses (sisters) and his mother.
5. His willingness to ask questions about those things he doesn’t understand, usually in a clear, loud voice

 

A Dinner Pop Quiz – review from last year

Grab a pencil and a piece of paper… Time for a pop quiz, homeschooling style.   At dinner this evening, I remembered something that the crew would be interested in. As we discussed it, it became a homeschooler’s pop quiz.

Travelling this past week, I saw a great question for final jeopardy or for those who studied MFW – Exploring Countries and Cultures.  Now while you internet addicts could probably Google and get the answer, let’s give the following question an honest try before you start cheating:

Believe it or not, Ireland is the world’s 20th largest island.  Name the other 19.  Continents are not considered islands.

No peeking… come on, give it a try… it kept me busy on a plane for a while.

Dancing with Cinderella – The Chapmans

For those of you who haven’t heard the touching story of the Chapmans you may want to watch the interviews from this week (CNN/ABC).  Their family tragically lost their 5 year old daughter Maria when her older brother accidentally struck her in their families’ driveway.

Take a few moments to hear how their faith sustains them.  With all Hope, Love and Peace they continue in their walk as Christians.

Mozyhome: free computer backup

Mozyhome is a free service for up to 2GB. It is a backup service that protects your files (video, pictures, Outlook, etc.) in case of a computer error or theft. Files are automatically backed up daily to a remote server.

Here are the installation instructions for the computer backup program. To get started:

1. Click the link: https://mozy.com/?code=MVDFZI
2. Click the 2GB Free image at the bottom, middle of the page.
3. You will need to create an account using a valid email address.
4. Once you create the account, you will need to download the program. It will send you an email with the link to activate your account and also download the program.
5. Once you get it downloaded there is a simple wizard to backup your programs. You just have to select all the little checkboxes and then it will backup automatically once a day for you.

Note: They do have unlimited backup available for an extra monthly fee. We have been using the free service for a couple months now.
